Installation of a 12 kW system on a pitched roof
Almost anyone can install solar panels on the flat roof of a new building. However, true engineering expertise comes into play when working with complex, steep surfaces and historic buildings. This 12 kW project is a story about how to turn an old farm building into a modern power plant without compromising the roof covering or the safety of the craftsmen.
Why is special equipment used?
As can be seen in the project photos, the building has a significant roof slope and a specific corrugated covering. Moving around on such a roof on foot would not only be dangerous, but could also cause microcracks in the old covering. Therefore, E-Stacija decided to carry out the installation exclusively from a basket lift (Dino 180XT). This allowed our craftsmen to access the highest points of the roof "without touching it," carefully installing fasteners and panels without putting any load on the roof structure itself.
Assembly process and details
In this project, we used special stainless steel fasteners (screws with EPDM seals) designed for corrugated roofing, which guarantee complete airtightness. The system's capacity is optimal for a large private house or rural property, covering heating (heat pump) and household electricity consumption. Although the work was carried out at height and in changing weather conditions, the team adhered to the highest safety standards – the use of helmets, harnesses and certified lifts is our daily routine, not an exception.
Result
Despite the building's venerable age and brick walls, modern Full Black panels give it a neat and contemporary look. The cable management system was built to be invisible and protected from the external environment, ensuring the system's longevity for 25+ years.
